YOUR CHOICE, YOUR DESTINY….
Just recently, I attended a small hangout with some old school mates of mine, and during one of our discussions, our minds went back to some good, and bad days of our school lives. We reflected on some of the decisions, some of us made, which has eventually brought us this far. It’s been almost like two decades since we completed Junior High, and you can imagine the feelings of meeting your friends after a long while. Some of us are already mothers, and fathers, whilst other are still contemplating on what to do with their lives.
As the interactions got more keener, and interesting, one colleague, shared some of her experiences with us about how choices really influenced her life as she journey through this mortality.
I was thrilled, and fascinated by some of her choices she made that has helped her to navigate through life. Come to think of it, I feel that, as humans, choices are placed before us every single seconds of our lives. The choice to focus on the directions of your future endeavors is rightly before you or sometimes, finding it difficult to locate where the future lies, or it’s either left in the balance to accept or reject what befalls you. The choice to be great is within reachable distance, you have the power to let it slip through your hands or gently hold on, as you nurture it. You have the choice to remain calm, discipline, and determined even if things are not going your way.
As our conversations got to it apex, we concluded that , choices determine our destiny, and wherever you’ve gotten to in life, is as a result of the choices you’ve made. You can be born in the royal home, but it’s up to you to live up to the royal codes. You can be born a popper, you must live the honor codes of hard work, so that you can rewrite the story one more time.
Sometimes, our lives can be compared to a dashboard in a car with so many indicators. As you ignore any indications on it, you are likely to face troubles, and as you pay attention to each indicator, the lesser the problems. Some choices you’ll regret, some choices you’ll feel proud of, whilst with other choices, it will hurt you for the rest of your life.
Choices play integral part of our lives, and sometimes, we can choose, but things may not go according to plans, but remember to make the right choices, and as you choose well, the gates of hell will not prevail against your quest to be the best, knowing that we’re what we choose to be, as “Orison Swett Marden once said, Don’t wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them”.
Until then, let’s have it at the back of our minds that the choice we make on daily basis play critical role of what becomes of us tomorrow.
